This is as good as is gets! The menu is simple, yet full of delicious choices made up of fresh, local ingredients. The recipes come straight from the owners imaginations and the combinations they put together are a real treat for your appetite. The Beef and Turkey are roasted in-house and all Bakery and Desserts are made in the kitchen as well. Although the menu has lots of items you can order everyday, the specials change daily with anything from Eggs Benedict to a Smoked Salmon Platter or Flatbread Pizza with VT Goat Cheese and Caramelized Red Onions. There are Vegan choices too... Breakfast goers usually stop in for the coffee (Speeder and Earls) and hot, fresh Sticky Bun, while lunch goers usually order the Dylan's Turkey Sandwich or the Fresh Quiche of the day. Whatever you choose, i promise you'll love it!

Dylan's HAS MOVED. And boy, has it changed. Just about the only local product on the menu is well, Cabot cheese you can pick up at Price Chopper - we queried our waitress on the locality of the food - I noticed the menu change along with the location change. Every item would have the farm/food item which was local under it. Not so now. Also - online site promised pastries and bread baked daily - not so this time. Bare bones as far as that was concerned. The waitress was ambivalent and careless - she forgot various items and honestly made me wonder if she even cared. Being employed as waitstaff myself this was obviously frustrating. The bread was grocery store brand, the food - eh. Waitstaff? Not so much. Dylan's - I miss the incredible food and service you had before moving off Railroad Street.

Really good sandwiches. Only one choice for sides....greens. Could be cleaner. No hot water in restroom which is troubling to me...no seat protectors either!

I had a bad day. We were suppose to drive to Burlington, VT but somehow we ended up in Canada. As we attempted to turn around the car we accidentally crossed the border and we did not have our passports. I was starving and stressed out. We stumbled into St. Johnsbury,VT in a foul mood. Dylan's Cafe caught my eye. Sometimes you eat at a truly healthy place. The bread is cracked wheat freshly made today by the bakery down the block, the cheese was made down the street with organic milk, the spinach leaves were plucked this morning in the yard...If you are into this sort of thing, this is truly your restaurant. The sandwiches were good but sort of bland and the side salad was just OK. I left feeling healthy though and that hardly ever happens in a restaurant anymore. The waitstaff was kind enough to stay open for us despite coming on 3 minutes until closing. A great place to stop for lunch!

Dyan's serves fine, creative, oversized sandwiches in a simple dining room. Prices are steep for the 'hood (paid same price for lunch as we had for dinner at elements nite b4) Service is pleasant, but totally weeded while i was there on a July Saturday.

Considering that Dylan's is THE only place to grab a bite to eat for lunch on Railroad Street, you have to give it some credit. For the most part, the food has been quite tasty, the few times that I have dined here. The butternut squash soup was rich and creamy and hit the spot on a cool fall day. The sandwiches are served on nice bread and the combinations of turkey and granny smith apple are refreshing and tasty. I did have a panini sandwich once, however, that was not a panini at all, but an open-faced sandwich with way too much cheese, toasted with a plethora of butter. Unfortunately the menu is quite pricey... The atmosphere is decent, with some local Stephen Huneck prints on the walls and other Vermonty decorations. However, there is just something off about the way it feels to eat here. It feels like a yarn store that has been turned into a restaurant. There is a water-stained drop-down ceiling that looks like it has been around too long and the tables feel oddly placed. It deserves a drop-in, and is a nice spot to grab a bite when you're shopping in downtown St. J.

Here's the straight dope: Dylan's does know how to make a sandwich, no denying it. Me and the ma dukes had a French ham and swiss that knocked our wheels off. The ham was cured with a nice mix of spice and the cheese was imported. So. . . hats off and shit. But honestly. $10 a sandwich?!?!?!?!?!?!?! That trumps Santa Monica prices. For those not in the know, St. J., is a sleepy little hamlet where the mean income struggles to hit ten bucks an hour. This is the MOST expensive restaurant in town and they don't even do dinner. Yet they still have a clientele. My breath is wasted. Next.

This was a great little place for lunch recommended by a friend of ours from the area. It was cute inside with very bright modern colors and friendly, but not hovering, waitstaff. I had the French Roast Beef sandwich, which was lots of thin roast beef with tomato, sauteed onion, and horseradish mayo on homemade sourdough. It was delicious and I would have given it at least a 4, but i've gotta give it a 3 overall because Nick's sandwich was a bit on the bland side and the "side of the day" that came with our meals was literally just a few pieces of lettuce with a splash of balsamic. Lots of the other sandwiches sounded wonderful though, and if I'm ever in this neck of the woods again, which I suspect I will be given that St. J's is way nicer than we thought it would be, I'd stop in for lunch again.

We usually eat lunch here when we're spending time in St. J. My favorite is the Dylan's turkey on sourdough bread, granny smith apples, red onion, cheese and lettuce, served hot. Usually the staff is very nice, but have had some bad experiences lately. One waitree snatched the plate out from underneath my mother in law while she's still biting into her standwich! The drink menu is lacking, no wine or beer is served.
